Homework → Science → Physics → Static Electricity
A static charge can be produced when two suitable objects are rubbed together. The friction of this rubbing causes electrons to be lost from one object which has more positive charge than negative charge and so overall it becomes positively charged.
The object that gains electrons has more negative charge than positive charge and so it becomes negatively charged. There are two types of charge: positive and negative.
If an object has equal numbers of positive & negative charged, it is uncharged!
Like charges repel each other and unlike charges attract each other.
